In
a bid to keep Mesut Ozil at the club, Arsene Wenger is ready to make the
midfielder Arsenal’s first £200,000-a-week player.
The
German playmaker has two years left on his current £140,000-a-week contract,
but manager Wenger is confident that he will put pen to paper on a new deal. Keeping
Ozil will be a huge boost for the North London team, who finish the 2015/2016
campaign without silverware.
There
is less certainty about Alexis Sanchez, who is attracting interest from Bayern
Munich and Juventus. But Ozil is in advanced negotiations and is expected to
stay at the Emirates. According to reports, the new deal is heavily weighted
with potential bonuses based on success, appearances and goals.
